WHAT NOT TO EAT TO REDUCE WEIGHT

We have seen in my earlier post diet plan to reduce weight.  It explains how to reduce weight in a healthy way without any side effects to our body. Here we must know about what not to eat to reduce weight, so that we  can restrict ourselves while coming across this food at home, office or any parties. I hope this post will help to make a self restriction to the one who is on strict diet to reduce their weight.

To reduce our weight we must eat more nutrient and less calorie food. While remembering this our first priority is for Fresh vegetables and leafy vegetables and fruits. Second priority is for grains especially sprouted grains, because the sprouted grains has more nutrients compared to normal grains.

Before going to the topic, we must see calories required for men and women.

Men requires 2500 calories per day. Women requires 2000 calories per day.
This is for the people who is on normal diet.

Men who is on diet requires - 1900-2000 calories
Women who is on diet requires - 1400-1500 calories

1)  WHITE RICE:
The first one to stop completely to reduce weight is white rice. The one who does lots of physical work outs requires rice. But now a days many people work is to do with only mind. And also white rice is the main culprit for the diabetes.  If you think its difficult to stop rice compensate this with brown rice. Hmmm.. I know brown rice is not tasty at all, so its good for you, you eat less but gain more nutrients from brown rice.

2) BREAKFAST IDLY UPMA AND PURI:

This isn't to skip the breakfast but to chose the right breakfast. IDLY, UPMA and PURI are the indian breakfast which are very tasty but almost 0 nutrients. And these are made of polished rice and polished rava. Polished food has no nutrients but promotes weight gain. So  better to STOP.

3) STOP OIL and GHEE

1 gram vegetable oil has 9 calories. Suppose per day on average if we use 50 grams of oil which is equal to 4 tea spoons, we get 450 calories. But if we eat fried foods which absorbs lots of oil we get lot many calories but 0 nutrients. 1kg of oil has 9000 calories.  Many eat less quantity of food but eating more fried foods matters a lot in reducing our weight. Hence we must keep an eye on oily foods.

its difficult to stop  immediately, but its necessary to stop eating oily foods and to reduce fat. once you are lost weight, you can eat once in a while.

HOW MENTAL STRESS EFFECTS BLOOD PRESSURE

It might be surprising for few to know that mental stress effects our Blood Pressure.  And it is hard to believe for few, but its true.  But how is it possible?  Whenever we are angry or anxious or involved in arguments or getting tensed our body releases toxins in our body. As soon as toxins released all the blood vessels in our body get constrict. So all blood vessels will have less blood space to pump blood. Heart uses more pressure to pump blood. So heart will be with over strain and less/no relaxation. Hence we can observe rapid increase in our Blood Pressure at that moment. We must avoid stressful situations, getting tensed, getting angry. To reduce tension, stress in our day to day lives we must practice meditation or pranayamam/breating exercises every day morning. Meditation gives us mental balance  to have a proper behaviour in stressfull situation and in tensed situations. So meditaiton help us to prevent high blood pressure. We must practice meditation every day and go for regular BP check up.

Brain hemorrhage, paralysis, heart failure, blood vessels damage and kidney failure  all are because of high blood pressure. High BP warns us that you are stressed too much or you are eating too much salt, you must balance your food habits and lifestyle.  Hence to prevent all these chronic diseases we must make sure that our blood pressure is normal.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

BP is normal if the reading is 120/80.  The top number measures the pressure in the arteries when heart beats(when the heart muscle contracts). The bottom number measures the pressure in the arteries between heart beats(when the heart muscle is resting 0.4 secs between beats and refilling with blood).

140/90 is the first stage of BP. If the reading is 150/90 it is called High BP. Usually everyone says BP increases with age. Is it fact? No. But, why is it happening with every one in their late age.  That's purely due to our eating habits. There are people who have controlled/normal BP even in their late age. It is possible with them due to their healthy habits and healthy lifestyle. Once we have High Blood Pressure, Doctors suggest us some medicines to control the BP. And also doctors advice us to reduce salt in our food.  Why to reduce salt to control BP?

In the process of digesting the food we take, the blood absorbs the salt/sodium. When salt mixes with blood the blood gets thicken and find difficulty to move/pass over the blood vessels. So the heart requires more pressure to pump the blood. Hence heart beats more rapidly.  We can observe the change in our body only once we stop eating salt or at least if we reduce.

In olden days people were not getting various varieties of vegetables, milk and grains and beans. Hence they used to provide enough sodium to their bodies externally in the form of salt. Since salt gives more taste we are not able to stop the salt. That's why doctors advice us to reduce salt as we cant eat food without salt. But we can find sodium in various varieties of natural foods like sprouted grains, leafy vegetables, fruits. If we take a balanced diet and stop/reduce salt completely definitely we can see a positive change in our high BP.
